Government have published their responses for Neonatal leave and pay as part of the ‘Good Work Plan: Proposals to Support Families’.
Government is committed to providing parents with an entitlement to take extended leave for neonatal care, to support those new mothers and fathers who need it.
Following the responses to the consultation, Government will:
- Introduce leave for parents of babies in Neonatal Care.
- Introduce statutory pay for parents of babies in Neonatal Care.
- Legislate to implement the entitlement and the relevant commitments Government are making in the forthcoming Employment Bill.
- Government have concluded that the total amount of statutory Neonatal Leave and Pay available to parents should be capped at a maximum of 12 weeks.
